There is enough for everybodys needs but not for everybodys greed.
With a long face I left the office premises… life is so unpredictable. The greed for working was a start and I did not expect it to end like this. While my friend, Mitesh, was driving me back, I was quite; sitting still, thinking what I would do next. He was a good friend who always motivated me in pushing myself to do things. I stared at him with disbelief, shock and confusion, wondering what my next step in life would be. I have never given up easily in life and that’s my strength.
A week after, I started working with my brother as a Sales and Marketing Manager, which wasn’t enjoyable since my heart was in aviation and flying. I would still contact my previous Station Manager on most occasions and suddenly after 3 months I was called for a Sales Personnel interview. As always I am clueless but I have something that I wear with pride and that’s my self confidence. I arrived at the same premises after three months where I had lost my job and patiently waited to see the Commercial Manager and the Marketing Manager who were to interview me and surprisingly this time I was not nervous. I was called and I walked into a wooden cabin where I was interviewed. They fired a lot of questions at me which I answered and asked for clarification where I did not understand. The interview with the two lasted for almost 45 minutes, felt pretty long! As the norm with most companies, only short-listed candidates would be contacted.
After a 2 week wait I was scheduled to meet a man who has turned to be my mentor till date; Capt Kiran. This is what he has been known by for many years. I had a chat with him and then went to meet the Managing Director; Capt. Odgen who was the final person to interview me. This consumed half an hour or so and was a recap of what had been previously discussed in the first interview. As I was leaving the premises I had a huge smile on my face, because they had asked me to join them back for the Sales Executive job.
I felt like springs suddenly appeared under my feet as I headed back home to break the news to my mum. She was overjoyed looking at me all smiles again, a complete different me compared to how I’d been the last three months in the uninteresting previous job. Sorry bro.
I reported to work on 3rd July 2001 at 8 am and waited to be directed to my desk and to be acquainted to the contents of my work portfolio. Sonal, the Marketing Manager introduced me to the team and their roles. I was lost with the long designation of each of the managers and I was to find what each one means and what is encompassed in their roles.
The journey for greed in aviation has restarted, but this time it’s to a whole new level!!!! Bring it on 😉
