Brilliant minds at work!
Dear readers,
It’s been a while since I last wrote..
Exam fever is catching up and I have 14 days!! But I have always been the kind who reads at the 11th hour. Coffee, tea nor chocolate help me. All I need is some peaceful sleep to enable me to read in the early morning hours.
Exams are here and I am ready, early to class and have settled, waiting for the papers to be distributed. My only thought at that moment was that I have to pass these exams. The paper was distributed and it became pin drop silence in the room as everyone became engrossed in filling the answers. It’s a rat race to finish and win. I get engrossed and hand over the filled in answer sheets to the tutor. The await for the results began. Days passed and we get the results and I am selected I am not sure whether I should cry or laugh to celebrate the same. The chosen road was going to be tough now, I have to learn makeup, serving in the flights with all the techniques to be applied, smile on the face irrespective of the mood and my worst nightmare: swimming.
We all get a small brief and have a break for 2 weeks before we proceed to move ahead with the remaining of the training, in the meantime I started learning swimming and it was the toughest learning experience I ever had. I have always had an aqua phobia. Tina and I were together in this and she was very helpful and always motivated me to push my self to the limits and learn swimming, in time to come I was able to do mini laps while she did the full lengths. Swimming classes took a month!!!
Despite the two week break, we were summoned to a crash course of first paramedics in case of emergency on board. You have to be brave enough to handle the pre-hospital part while looking out for a doctor either on board (if any) or land. The crash course is exhausting as in less than 3 days you have to learn so much, nevertheless it’s all part of a dream job and as they say no pain no gain. Certificates are handed over and the feeling is great to be part of St John Ambulance Training Academy after the course is over.
Time to prepare the first flight out for future more training. The competition of the corporate world is tough and yet exciting as the adrenaline rush for doing things and working on the aircraft is quite exciting in thinking but much tougher in reality..
to be continued…..
