To awaken alone in a strange town is one of the pleasantest sensations in the world.”
After settling in the new office for a week, I was summoned and briefed about what my work entails. In no time I was asked to meet the sales manager in town. We walked for hours and hours, visiting various agents and climbing numerous staircases in the heat without a drop of water to quench the thirst.
At first it was difficult but with time it became fun and easy. As days went by, my presence is the office was less and more in the field. This felt good.
9 months later, a new baby was born 😉
I was asked to go to Kisumu. I was excited as I was going to travel again. I experience sleepless nights due to the usual anxiousness I have before my travel. With the ticket came ‘per diem’ – it was the first time I that I heard this phrase. It meant an allowance for food and transport. I was super excited and made my way to the reservation office and the finance department to pick all that was needed.
I arrived at the JKIA early to fly to Kisumu. I’d always been on large aircrafts, but this was a small one – Fokker 28 as many would recall it’s beauty of 79 seats. I checked in and was waiting at the boarding gate. Everyone that passed by greeted me with a warm smile as they now knew about me. It was an awesome feeling. The boarding announcement was made and I picked my 2 small bags and headed towards the aircraft. As passengers were settling in their seats, I headed to the cockpit to say Jambo to the pilots and headed to my seat. While the final checks were being done, I realized that I missed my previous job. The flight was airborne and we were served with refreshments. It was a short flight and in less than an hour we were taxing into Kisumu airport. I was met by the team of Kisumu and was taken to the office for a meeting to set my agenda.
The day passed and I crashed on the bed with the excitement of exploring the city when the sun rose.

Nothing beats exploration & indulgence. In our first meeting I knew everything abt her, yet knew nothing.
